Antwerp Oil Spill & Chile Congestion

Posted 06/14/2024

Antwerp: An oil spill near the Deurganck dock, at Antwerp Gateway terminal last Friday has created some disruption and operational issues this week. If all goes well, the terminal hopes to be fully operational again by tonight.  Nevertheless, this incident has resulted a great backlog in handling deep sea vessels, feeders & barges. Until the situation normalizes, some adjustments will be made to container operations, which may take several days to resolve. We will continue monitor the situation day by day, and please keep in mind that loading dates may be adjusted to variances in operational capabilities at the port.

Chile: This week, adverse weather conditions continue to impact transportation operations in Chile, including heavy swell warnings which are significantly disrupting operations in the central and southern parts of the country. Several carriers have been forced to cut and run vessels which has caused a backlog of cargo that may take several days to clear. Our colleagues in Chile are providing updated information as it becomes available. We will closely monitor the situation and provided additional updates as we receive further information.
