FMC Issues Industry Advisory to Carriers in Preparation For Possible Work Stoppage

The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) issued an Industry Advisory today emphasizing that the FMC statues and regulations remain in effect should a work stoppage occur in response to the ILA contract negotiations.The FMC advises they will “scrutinize any demurrage and detention charges assessed during terminal closures” and “will prosecute violators to the fullest extent of the law.”
