Chile and South Africa Potential Delays

Posted 08/07/2024

South America: The Cross-Andes Pass is re-opened today, August 7th.  Having been closed for a week, the transit is slow due to congestion with around 4,500 trucks waiting to cross Argentina to Chile. It should take a few days for containers to arrive to Chile. Luckily, the weather forecast is clear for the next 7 days.

South Africa: Our operations team in South Africa informed us of more severe weather in the Cape of Good Hope Region, expected August 8 – 11. The weather is expected to impact vessel movement and operations around Cape Town. Maersk has already released a memo stating they expect delays with their vessels due to the weather. We will continue to monitor the situation and advise of any significant delays.
