CSX Storage Policy Changes
With the difficulties of the trucking situation in the US, the logistics industry has been hit with ever increasing costs and even longer delays for cargo delivery. Recently changes in policies by many rail companies may add to shipper frustrations. For instance, as of September 1, CSX is implementing a revised storage policy for North American Inland Facilities by adding a peak season surcharge and increasing the fee for goods dwelling over the 7 chargeable storage days.
The peak season surcharge will add an additional $100 to all chargeable periods. The surcharge, while temporary, will apply to all CSX inland facilities in both the US and Canada.
A permanent increase to the fee for goods dwelling over 7 chargeable days at rail will also be implemented. The fee – originally $200 per day – will jump to $500 per day after the 7 day period.
Other carriers are also instituting changes to their storage policies and we are working diligently to make our customers aware of these changes and to minimize the impact where we can. For now, please contact us if you have any questions or concerns, and we will keep you informed of any future updates.
