NZ Freak Storm
As any of you shipping from NZ are aware, the congestion and delays for getting goods out of South and North Island have been enormous over the last months. In the midst of the shipping crisis, NZ has had another blow with a freak storm hitting the country over the weekend.
South Auckland suffered a freak tornado that impacted containers and operations at MCP and Nexus or Wiri inland port. At MCP several container stacks toppled, crushing a truck and causing the port to shut down. Thankfully, no one was injured. However, at Nexus or Wiri inland port, toppling containers resulted in one fatality and two other staff sustained injuries. Operations at both locations have been temporarily halted in order to clean up the debris and toppled containers from the storm.
Our thoughts are with those who were severely hit by the storm, and we hope for swift recovery and healing for those who were impacted. We will keep you informed of this issue, and feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
