Port of Oakland Update
As we reported yesterday, terminals at the Port of Oakland were shut down for the day due to protest action taken by clerks represented by the ILWU local 34. Thankfully, the shut down only lasted for the day and all operations are now functioning as normal. Our friends at SSA terminal told us they were able to operate their gates Wednesday evening, and they will also be adding a shift Friday evening to handle any cargo that was impacted due to the strike.
While this incident was brief, it does highlight the importance of resolving these labor negotiations, and we hope that the parties involved will soon come to a satisfactory agreement.
