Strikes Continue at Montreal Port
Strikes at the Port of Montreal continue this week even though the original duration of the strike was intended to last only until July 31st. While negotiations continue with Longshoremen's union, the possibility of the strike continuing indefinitely until a resolution is reached is very real.
Unfortunately, with the essential need for medical items due to COVID19, this strike situation could increase the risk of delays and backlogs of these particular items and cause disruptions in the public health sector. The port and several other associations have reached out to government authorities to intervene so the situation does not escalate.
For now, please be aware that shipments going through Montreal could very well see delays. If you have questions on any specific shipments, please contact your freight forwarder.
We will continue to monitor this situation closely, and provide updates as needed.
