Update - Chile Weather Related Delays
The severe weather conditions in Chile will continue through the weekend. The conditions this week have led to regular closures of the road from Argentina to Chile, continued swells in the ports are creating cut and run situations and inability for the ocean carriers to load cargo. Backlogs are increasing and we are seeing some cargo delayed for multiple weeks due to the backlog. The primary port affected is San Antonio and while some cargo can be shipped out of Valparaiso, one of the key carriers serving Valparaiso, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has shifted their service to San Antonio for the month of August. Our operations team has provided updates on the below vessels that are affected by the severe weather.
- OPHELIA 43N: Vessel did not arrive to Chile, cargo was rolled to Warnow Master
- COSCO SHIPPING VOLGA 4225N: Cut and run, cargo not loaded on this vessel will roll to CMA CGM Estelle
- MSC MAPUTO NX431R: Operations to start on 8/5
- CMA CGM BEIRD 127N: Operations to start on 8/2
