Spanish Strike Update
Our offices in Spain have informed us that the stevedore unions at Spanish ports have cancelled their scheduled work stoppages for the 6th and 8th of March due to found support from their main opposition parties. Since strike days are scheduled through March 24th, this is only a partial deferment of the scheduled strikes.
Thus far, productivity in Spanish ports has fallen by 30%, and the economic losses have been valued at 105 million euros by the National Port State Authority. The ports of Valencia and Algeciras are being affected the most. Forty-five vessels have already cancelled their calls, and many more are expected in the coming days.
With the help of our offices in Spain, we will continue to monitor the situation, and we will do everything we can to ensure that your cargo is shipped on schedule. We will also keep you informed of any delays that may occur.
