Federal Government At Work Again
Good news took place over the weekend as President Trump agreed to re-open portions of the federal government – including the USDA and CBP. However, while this is a step in the right direction, funding is only available through February 15th, and if another agreement cannot be made before then, another shutdown is likely.
For importers, and those involved with international trade, the CBP should now be fully functioning and newly released exclusions which have yet to be updated to the ACE system will be put into place. Other ACE enhancements should also be up and running, including the processing of refunds on any post summary corrections or protests.
While the reinstatement of federal government operations is positive, only time will tell if this relief is only temporary. For now, we will keep you updated with any news pertaining to trade operations. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
