CHILE: Disruptions Continue

President of Chile, Sebastian Pinera, announced yesterday that he has replaced eight Cabinet ministers amid the violent ongoing protests happening in Chile. 

The key Cabinet ministers, including the Minister of Finance and the Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency were replaced to "enhance dialogue with the citizens and to create greater national unity," according to President Pinera. 

President Pinera has been working hard to resolve the Chile conflicts regarding the country's economic and social reforms. This move to reshuffle the Cabinet was his latest strategy, but unfortunately, new demonstrations have erupted in Santiago and protesters have continued to light infrastructure on fire and riot with the police. 

With the political and social upheaval in Chile, the flow of trade has stalled. While San Antonio and Valparaiso Terminals have managed to operate normally over the last two days, both ports will suspend operations today at 12pm and will not resume until Thursday, October 31st. 

This suspension is likely to cause delays and backlog for the weeks ahead, and we are working extensively with our office in Chile to mitigate these delays as much as possible.
