Update: Steel & Aluminum Tariffs to be applied to Beer and Aluminum Cans

As we await the announcements on tariffs scheduled to be announced by the President at approximately 4pm today, we are reporting now on a new federal register item published today adding aluminum cans containing beer to the list of items  subject to the 25% tariff already imposed on other aluminum derivative products. The effective time for this new tariff is 12:01am on April 4. The notice is linked below.

  Thus, for any of you importing beer in cans, you will need to break out the value of the aluminum, similar to the process outlined in the CSMS issued previously.

We do expect to see a new CSMS notice adding the harmonized code for beer (2203.00.00) to the list of items and will circulate as soon as it is published.
